The Position: Assistant Buyer - Outdoor Apparel

Position Summary:
The Assistant Buyer reports directly to a Buyer or another Assistant Buyer, and is responsible for a number of brands within the buyer’s portfolio. We are looking for individuals who are highly motivated, computer savvy, and have a passion for outdoor apparel.
The position will require travel. The majority of time spent in this position will be maintaining brands, including ordering new product, maintaining current and ongoing product, managing vendor relations and conducting negotiations. The Assistant Buyer is expected to use sales analysis and provided tools in order to maximize their given brands portfolio’s profit.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Inventory analysis and management
- Product selection
- Product categorization
- Invoice reconciliation
- Create sales plans and OTB from scratch
- Create product flow and manage dollars each month
- Achieve sales, inventory, turn and markdown plans monthly
- Achieve profit margins monthly
- Managing daily sales, inventory and category reports
- Daily brand maintenance
- Order writing
- Daily communication with vendors
- Travel to trade shows as needed
Required Skills:
- Passionate about Customer Service (this is first on the list for a reason)!
- Minimum of 1 year buying experience within the industry - Outdoor Apparel buying experience is preferred
- Intermediate computer skills (Excel/Word/Internet navigation)
- Excellent follow up and documentation skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal
- 1 year retail apparel experience preferred, especially with Outdoor Apparel
- Possess a passion for the outdoor lifestyle (hiking, camping, climbing, yoga, etc..) with knowledge of the outdoor industry and insight into the latest outdoor trends
- Ability to communicate between several departments on projects as well as day to day operations
