The Position: Creative Development Lead

CONTRACT-TO-HIRE: CREATIVE DEVELOPMENT LEAD, Vis-Comm / Stanley Creative partner in the development of legendary products people love The Creative Development Lead (CDL) ? Stanley, will be the Senior Visual Communications Designer and partner for the Stanley Strategic Business Unit (SBU). Our brand has a rich 100+ year history. Born from inventor William Stanley Jr. who forever changed the way hot drinks were consumed, in 1913 he fused vacuum insulation and the strength of steel in one portable bottle, inventing the all-steel vacuum bottle we know and love today. The CDL will be a key member of the team to help steward and help grow this heritage brand. The CDL will be responsible for driving the creative conceptualization of projects from digital efforts, to marketing collateral, to trend and product artwork development, to photoshoots, to product packaging development, to tradeshow development. The CDL reports to the Visual Communications Director and will be on a team consisting of amazing and dedicated designers and illustrators, a photographer, project coordinators, and production artists. The CDL will not only be partnered with the Stanley SBU but also with the greater Pacific Market International (PMI) Creative Development team, which consists of other CDLs on both the Engineering and Industrial Design teams. Together this team guides all creative for the brand. Big Picture Responsibilities ? Co-create commercially viable product & collateral by partnering with SBU & Vis Comm Director on: ? Identification of key consumer trends & product opportunities ? Product assortment / marketing campaign intent & strategy ? Program review alignment ? Ensuring consumer-centric, brand-appropriate, commercially viable solutions ? Translates creative direction into on-brand, consumer-focused product and communication solutions ? Drive execution of SBU projects end-to-end and accountable for project success ? Schedules and drives design reviews ? Builds & leads super project teams, able to ?teach? brand vision and provide art direction for other designers on the project teams Brand Specific Responsibilities ? Expert in outdoor industry market for design / creative in marketing, digital, packaging ? Partner with SBU in strategy development, and drive creative develop digital sales materials ? sales pitch presentations, trade presentations at trade show, online sales center ? Web & social media ? partner with marketing to optimize our website, be the digitally savvy partner with marketing when working with outside agencies, partner in developing a social media editorial calendar and drive the creation of assets ? Retail marketing ? partner with marketing & product dev to lead the creation of in-store marketing solutions ? palate programs, signage, pdq & floor stand, circulars ? Ecommerce ? partner with the ecommerce team and drive the creation of digital assets to support growth in this area ? Partner with Stanley marketing team in working on packaging and campaigns ? Understand our consumer and retailers inside and out ? what he loves, what he dislikes, where he shops, what matters to him, how to use design to speak to him through collateral such as: - Product packaging - Product illustrations & decoration - Point of Sales (POS) displays - Marketing collateral - Trade show booths and collateral ? Be able to, when needed, vet, manage outside vendors and work within a budget ? printers, photographers, illustrators, designers Proficiencies ? Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to communicate effectively and project a professional image when giving and taking information in writing, in person and over the phone ? Good personal skills with the ability to effectively mentor, lead, and work with individuals and groups at all organization levels; ability to work independently and as part of a team ? Ability to take initiative and prioritize tasks; good time-management, organizational, problem-prevention and problem-solving skills ? Ability to work accurately with close attention to detail ? Willingness to adapt to quick-changing business needs and deadlines ? Possess a work ethic that includes drive, organization, neatness and punctuality ? Proficient on both the Macintosh OSX and PC platforms ? Proficient in Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign ? Asks smart questions ? Curious ? Follows through to the end ?
