Access Fund is looking for an energetic candidate with strong outreach, field organization, and support skills. The Field Coordinator reports to the Stewardship Director, and is responsible for the oversight, outreach, and management of the three Conservation Teams. The Field Coordinator may work remotely, with reasonable access to a centralized airport. Job responsibilities will include travel once current pandemic concerns make travel more amenable.
The position is open until filled and applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
Key Responsibilities:
Conservation Team and Climber Steward Support
- Ensure Conservation Team hiring and on-boarding processes occur along appropriate timelines, including conducting training around AF employee policies, administrative procedures, sponsor needs, and field training;
- Work collaboratively with the Stewardship Director on the development and implementation of the Conservation Team schedule and project timelines;
- Provide critical logistical support for project implementation, including: outlining project specifics with Conservation Teams, volunteer recruitment, Local Climbing Organization (LCO) communication, AmeriCorps Crews support, securing necessary field supplies, and assisting in identifying lodging opportunities.
- Support a growing network of Climber Steward volunteers with the necessary education and outreach materials, field and camping supplies, and remote living support;
- Be the social media and marketing lead for AF Conservation Teams (CT); complete necessary social media outreach, and communications for CT-led projects, festival, and gym visits, as well as provide sponsor support with the AF Marketing-Communications Team;
- Work collaboratively with AF team to identify and track field program metrics, write project reports, capture work images and video for the Access Fund website, blog, Vertical Times, social media, e-news, and sponsor needs.
- Oversee and manage AF Jeep vehicle fleet, including tracking and fulfilling registration schedules, completing necessary maintenance needs, tracking CT member usage, ensuring trailers and vehicles are properly branded and in good working condition.
- Willingness and ability to travel one or two times each quarter to visit Conservation Teams and assist with project work across the US.
Advocate and Land Manager Support
- Support LCO and advocate communities with organizing and hosting successful Adopt-a-Crag events;
- Organize and host a variety of climbing stewardship skills workshops and webinars for advocates, LCOs, and land managers;
- Work alongside Stewardship Director on the development of a “stewardship toolbox” for AF website and media needs;
- Work with entire AF team to create and drive a national climbing area assessment and inventory initiative that will curate critical data necessary for stewardship prioritization;
- Assist in project proposals, grant applications, and site assessments;
- Foster a sense of camaraderie for comprehensive stewardship among the advocate and greater climbing community;
Skills and Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of professional experience in stewardship field and crew related programming;
- Excellent interpersonal, management, collaborative, and written communication skills;
- Ability to oversee, support, and professionally manage a host of personnel, including CT volunteers, professionals, and members;
- Effective communication, presentation, education, and public speaking abilities.
- Ability to support field operations and administrative functions, including scheduling, field metric collection, success tracking, and other related tasks;
- Ability to balance multiple projects and stakeholders in a fast-paced environment, and to work well under pressure;
- Ability to adapt to challenges and opportunities with a creative perspective.
- Proven experience with GPS and mapping software applications, including GIS, ESRI;
- Experience and knowledge in highly technical trail and recreation infrastructure development and construction;
- Commitment to JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion) principles;
- A passion for rock climbing, outdoor recreation, and/or conservation are preferred.

Compensation and Benefits:
- Salary: $35,000-$45,000/year, DOE
