Job Description & Requirements

The primary role of the Service Department Manager is to ensure an exceptional customer experience with our ski services and rentals. The following 4 responsibilities are at the core of managing a successful rental/service shop and represent the fundamental responsibilities of the position: (1) Rental Management, (2) Service Management, (3) Record Keeping and Operational Management, and (4) Personnel Management.  

The Service Department Manager will spend roughly 50% of their time managing the tech room- this will fluctuate depending on seasonal demands. The Service Department Manager is also, at times, the only ski tech, and is generally responsible for all Service Department work. The main responsibilities of the Service Department Manger include, but are not limited to, the following:

Rental Department Management

  • Work with the Operations Manager to maintain the Rental Calendar and ensure accuracy of information entered into the Rental Management System

  • Keep the rental shop, all rental equipment, and service department tools clean, tuned, and in good repair.

  • Communicate Rental Shop needs to Operations Manager and appropriate Category Buyer

Service Management

  • A high level knowledge of how to perform all ski services offered at Wilderness Exchange.

  • Provide impeccable customer service and recommendations for ski and board services. This includes a detailed knowledge of what we can and cannot repair.

  • Know processes and maintenance for tech shop machinery and tools

Record Keeping/Operational Management

  • Quarterly reporting of rental and service department performance
  • Keep an accurate and updated inventory of all rental equipment and service department tools and work with appropriate buyer to procure new rental equipment when needed.

Sales Lead/Personnel Management:

  • Building the team and mentoring the staff who will be operational in the Service and Tech Department. 

  • Operating in a Sales Lead capacity while working the sales floor

Other Job Requirements:

  • 1-2 years previous management experience preferred

  • 2-3 years previous ski tech experience preferred 

  • Must be psyched on the gear we sell and rent

  • Good sense of humor is preferred, but not required

  • Must have proof of Covid vaccination
