Job Description & Requirements
The Retail Sales Associate is an important and versatile position within our company. We are looking for a candidate with a passion for river sports, an outgoing personality, and a positive attitude. The working environment at Down River Equipment is energetic and fast-paced. Successful team members thrive in that environment by being self-motivated and by working with existing team members to develop effective communication and organizational skills.
Responsibilities include:

Clearly and effectively communicating with customers in-order to provide the best customer service in the industry.

This position will regularly interact with customers to help them understand the features and benefits of products as well as offer advice on various river trip logistic questions.

Assist with merchandising, stocking, and organizing of the retail store.

Contribute to set up and breakdown of in-house events, as well as giving presentations on specified topics.

The ideal candidate will be proficient in MS Office Programs (including Teams and SharePoint) as well as be able to efficiently learn new programs.

You should be able to lift 30 pounds.
The ideal candidate will have a background in retail sales along with experience rafting, kayaking, or standup paddling. We are willing to train a trustworthy candidate that displays the right temperament and personality for this position but lacks some of the desired experience.

This is a full-time position and compensation is a base of $15/hr, plus 2%commission. Commission is estimated at $10,000 annually.Other benefits include health insurance (DRE pays $125/month), an annual gear stipend, employee purchase program, American Whitewater membership, “Protect Our Rivers” license plate program along with paid volunteer day, on-river day, and holidays.
