Summary
Develop and design lab tests, perform root cause analysis for quality and production issues on current products, and perform research and testing to inform future product concepts. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned
- Maintain R&D lab including any testing apparatus and machine shop equipment. This also includes inventory and ordering of necessary tools and related equipment.
- Responsible for keeping the R&D lab and machine area clean and organized.
- Aid in future development of the R&D lab. Including the design and fabrication of various test apparatus and test fixtures.
- Run lab tests, write detailed test reports, keep data and reports organized and accessible to the engineering/product team.
- Assemble and inspect prototypes. Checking dimensions and dimensional tolerances against product drawings.
- Manage prototype ride test program: Assist in the selection of test riders. Distribute NDA and rider feedback forms to test riders. Keep in contact with riders and report back to engineering manager.
- Keep abreast of current warranty issues and report recurring issues to engineering manager.
- May occasionally assist in the assembly of show and or demo bikes.
- Participate in biannual ASTM committee on bicycle test standards.

Education and/or Experience
BS in Mechanical Engineering. One to five years of Industrial Design or Mechanical Engineering work experience in a Corporate In-House or Consultancy environment, sporting goods or active outdoor industry is a plus. Catia V5 CAD experience preferred (or equivalent CAD system) and Microsoft Office required. Experience with mechanical design, drafting, FEA and Kinematics software. Experience with various transducers and transducer/software interface (load cells, accelerometers, linear potentiometers). Experience with general machine shop equipment including lathee, vertical mill, and welding methods. Strong knowledge of bicycle mechanics and/or bike shop experience is preferable
Computer Skills
Solidworks or Catia V5 CAD experience preferred, (or equivalent CAD surfacing and modeling experience), and Microsoft Office experience required.
