Assistant Sales Manager
Rutabaga Paddlesports – Fall 2021
We’re not going to write a long, corporate buzzword-laden cut-and-paste from a LinkedIn ad. You know, the kind where we ask if you're a team player, if you have what it takes to be successful, blah blah blah. That’s not what we’re about. Never has, never will be.
We’re a smallish family-owned business. We’re paddlers. We’re campers. We have a passion for the outdoors, and we want to share that with others. That's why we do what we do.
We're seeking an Assistant Sales Floor Manager to help with general day-to-day duties. Guiding customers through the entire sales process, keeping staff on task and making sure they are setup for success, scheduling, and general retail sales floor duties.
A family-owned ethos extends into our staff and our customers, and everyone is treated like a member of the family (the relatively functional kind). We're a friendly, inclusive workplace with a casual work environment, while still maintaining professional standards of conduct.
Maybe you're thinking you don't know that much about paddling except for the time you went to camp or floated down the river with friends. That's fine, we can teach you all that stuff. What we can't teach you is kindness, empathy, intelligence (emotional and otherwise), and a desire to do things well. If you're already a paddler, that's all well and good, but what we want is a good person with customer service and management experience. Someone who can help our staff stay focused, get stuff done, take care of the customers, and enjoy their time doing it.

Compensation: $35,000 – $41,000 salary, GHC health insurance (a great plan), an IRA match, generous PTO, flexible scheduling, periodic team bonuses, and a fleet of boats and gear just for staff to use.
