Detailed Job Description:

The Digital Marketing and Advertising Manager will report directly to the Chief Revenue Officer and work collaboratively with others within the marketing and content creation department.  We are seeking an applicant with a strong proficiency and proven track record in digital advertising across various platforms including Facebook/Instagram, Google, Amazon, Criteo, and others. Applicants should have a penchant for data analytics, A/B testing and a willingness to take risks on creative new concepts. They must also have a strong understanding of all digital advertising metrics, best practices, and both the technical and artistic skillsets required to effectively run a complex digital advertising program.  This skillset will primarily be used for the Matador brand, but this position will also be responsible for the company’s other brands as well (TinyTents and MicroSend).  In addition to digital advertising, the Digital Marketing and Advertising Manager will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing the company’s D2C websites (Shopify based) and implementation, management, and optimization of a number of Shopify applications (ex. Upsell apps, product review management, etc.).  A more in-depth overview of responsibilities is listed below:

Social Media Advertising: The Digital Marketing and Advertising Manager will be solely responsible for ideating, executing, testing, managing, and optimizing social media advertising campaigns.  They must work collaboratively with the Brand Marketing Director, Photo/Video Content Creator, Graphic Designer, Copywriter, etc. to achieve the desired ROAS results in a compelling and on-brand way.  This position requires a strong understanding of the customer acquisition funnel and the ability to push customers through the funnel with clever and engaging digital campaigns.  It also requires a strong understanding of all the digital advertising metrics and how they interplay.  It also requires the ability to ideate, isolate, and build specific high-value audiences for efficient targeted campaigns using existing company data.  Digital Marketing and Advertising Manager must be able to manage significant budgets and proactively work to hit specified metrics with those allotted budgets.  Testing/experimental budgets will be allotted as a path for growth and creative exploration, especially as it relates to prospecting.

Google Advertising: This position will be responsible for maximizing the impact of the company’s digital marketing efforts across the Google platform while maintaining or exceeding pre-determined ROAS metrics.  This includes prospecting, retargeting, and conquesting campaigns.

Global Amazon Management: Matador utilizes the Fulfilled by Amazon program strategically in multiple marketplaces around the world. This role will oversee product page building/monitoring as well as complete ownership of advertising campaigns that have unique metrics.

Dynamic Retargeting: Currently run through Criteo, this position will be responsible for managing this (or similar) platform, managing budgets, and generally optimizing to maximize ROAS.

Shopify Website Management: In addition to digital advertising, the Digital Marketing and Advertising Manager will be responsible for managing and optimizing the company’s D2C websites.  This includes coordinating updates as needed to maximize conversion rates, managing third-party plugins like upsell apps, product review apps, etc., managing promotions and related landing pages, and any other tasks that are directly related to driving revenue on the D2C websites.

Data Analysis and Reporting: This role requires extensive weekly reporting, but this is mostly automated at this point.  Since this is a performance-driven role, closely monitoring metrics and making necessary adjustments is a very important component of this position.  The Digital Marketing and Advertising Manager will be responsible for ensuring all pixels are recording data properly, de-duping conversion data as needed, and generally collecting and analyzing data to fish out the information required to make informed marketing decisions.

Creativity: We’re not looking for a digital marketing robot.  We’re looking for that person who wants to take risks and make waves with bold new ad campaigns, and has the technical skillset to make it happen.  We need someone who will push our content creators and graphic designers to generate unseen concepts to utilize in their constant A/B testing efforts.  We’re looking for someone who is plugged in, always looking at new ideas, new technologies, new platforms, and ways to innovate and maximize the impact of the brand.  This position will give the right person the freedom and budget to make a serious impact on the outdoor and travel industry.

Other Responsibilities: Matador is a very small company so everyone wears a lot of hats.  The description above is just a brief overview of the primary roles and responsibilities of the position.  Other responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, assisting with website updates, helping to generate promotional/advertisement ideas in a group brainstorm setting, , managing affiliate networks/partners, engaging in research projects and/or customer surveys to gain customer insights, generate SEO descriptions and product tags for the website, collaboration with outside contributors for whitelisting or influencer promotions, and any other number of related or unrelated tasks that arise from time to time.

Applicants must have the ability to generate new concepts from scratch, but also be able to adhere to brand guidelines and work within the brand voice and visual brand language of the company.  Applicants must have a collaborative mindset and the ability to make improvements to their work based on constructive criticism and feedback.

Applicant requirements:

Applicants should have 3+ years of corporate or agency work experience in a similar position. Thorough knowledge of FB Business manager, FB and IG platforms, Google Analytics, Google Ads, and the Shopify platform is required.

In addition to a resume and cover letter, a portfolio or a link to the applicant’s recent work is strongly encouraged.  Any insights into digital marketing metrics achieved in a prior position would also be appreciated.

Location: Boulder, Colorado (Remote applicants will not be considered)

Application Deadline: 12/10/2021

Compensation:

Matador offers competitive salary, healthcare, a very generous vacation policy, a great work atmosphere with free snacks, Kombucha on tap, ergonomic stand/sit desks, and great co-workers with a passion for travel and the outdoors.

Colorado salary range disclosure requirement: $55,000 – $85,000 annual plus bonus, depending on experience level and skillset.
