Job Description & Requirements
We are looking for a Running Footwear Buyer to select and purchase lines of products from about 15 footwear brands. The role is extremely important since our business cannot continue and grow without the necessary stock of desired product. Therefore, the ideal candidate must be forward thinking with great attention to detail. As our footwear buyer, you will need to occasionally negotiate with vendors to secure competitive terms. The job is to ensure that the business will always have adequate inventory to meet seasonal requirements. The goal is to have the desired shoes, in the right sizes, in the desired colors.
Responsibilities
- Identify customer preferences and forecast consumer trends
- Evaluate supplier options according to timing, costs, terms etc. and determine the best options
- Be aware of tending brands and products and acquire new products to evaluate, and monitor popularity and demand of products already on our shelves
- Negotiate terms of agreements to achieve the best outcomes for our company
- Ensure the timely delivery of products and compliance with the agreements of purchase
- Monitor stock levels and make plans for buying within budget
- Create reports on sales, budgets and customer satisfaction and adjust your strategies accordingly
- Forge and maintain trust relationships with suppliers to promote fair dealing
- Attend events, fairs and exhibitions to remain up-to-date with the market’s trends
Skills
- Proven experience as a retail buyer or relevant role
- Outstanding communication abilities
- Excellent organizational skills
- Demonstrable aptitude in effective negotiating
- Up to speed with purchasing best practices
- Familiarity with market research, data analysis, and forecasting techniques
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office
- High school diploma; BS in business and/or relevant experience will be considered a plus
The FTWR Buyer is also an expert in customer service and shoe fittings.
The FTWR Buyer is also a store manager assuring all is running smoothly at the front and back of the stores.
