Position: Accounting Supervisor

Reports to: Controller

 

General Summary:

The Accounting Supervisor will report directly to the Controller and be directly responsible for performing a variety of support functions including assisting in the management of the company’s daily and month-end close processes, reviewing reconciliations, performing technical accounting research, and reviewing, maintaining, and updating documentation of policies and procedures.

This role will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting functions of the Finance department. This position will supervise the AR & AP Staff Accountants, assigning/auditing their work, while personally handling more difficult procedures and analyses.

 

Essential Job Functions:

• Responsible for the day-to-day accounting and finance functions
  • Daily Bank Reconciliations, Initiate Wires/ACH’s, Deposit Payments
  • Investigate discrepancies, ensure accurate general ledger coding selections
  • Review and Prepare Journal Entries, Monthly Expense Reports and Reconciliations
  • Prepare preliminary and finalized monthly financial reports
• Supervise AR and AP Staff Accountants, including providing guidance, development, support, and training
• Perform month end close procedures
  • Including preparing/reviewing related journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
• Analysis of general ledger accounts and assist with monthly and quarterly review for departmental budgets
• Prepare, reconcile, and file monthly, quarterly, and annual Sales and Use tax returns
• Assist with the Annual Financial Audit, Tax Engagement, and Inventory Observation
• Assist in documentation of existing policies and establishment of new or updated policies
• Assist the Controller and complete special projects, as assigned
• Performs other duties, as assigned

 

Job Qualifications, Competencies, and Key Attributes:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting
• 7+ years accounting experience
• Management/Supervisory experience with direct reports, a must
• Solid understanding of accounting and GAAP reporting, a must
• Excellent communication, organizational skills, and attention to detail
• Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
• Strong analytical, problem solving, organizational, and verbal/written communication skills
• Advanced Excel (and overall Microsoft Office Suite), ERP and computer skills
• Experience in consumer goods/products or manufacturing industry
• Strong focus on improving processes and systems
• Must be able to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands
• Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
• Proactive and Self-Starter

Compensation Range:

$70,000-85,000, depending on experience.
