Job Description & Requirements

We are seeking an experienced Software Development Engineer to join our talented and dynamic team that develops best in class ranging products for the Golf market. Located in Overland Park, KS, the SW Development Engineer reports to the Head of Engineering for Bushnell Golf. This position will work with the Product Line Manager to define features within the Bushnell Golf App, and also extend to integrating features into various products. In addition, the SW Development Engineer will work with development partners in the development of the product, write and conduct test procedures to evaluate product and project progress, communicate to the organization the release readiness of the product, and provide technical support for sales and customer service.

This role provides the opportunity to travel, work with engineers on leading edge designs, and educate the broader organization on the detailed functionality of our products. Though there may be occasional opportunity for writing software, the successful candidate will leverage outside development partners, and provide direction to the outside development partners for accomplishing the tasks. 

Being successful in this role will require a solid understanding in development of technical products that can be connected with an App. This will include experience with Apps, management of external development resources, product development, project management, and software. The ideal candidate will also be comfortable developing feature flows, and executing test procedures, assisting in the creation and modification of product concepts and design, will offer input on UX and software flow and functionality, and will support in the development of training materials (video, manuals, presentations, etc). The Bushnell Golf SW Development Engineer will be intimately familiar with the App.

Job Functions:

  • Work with Product Manager to identify features for various products and App.

  • Design and Detail feature definitions considering desired user experience, products in the competitive market set, historical product functionality, current architecture platform, and desired project specs and objectives.

  • Document feature flows and definition for internal team and work with Product Manager for acceptability confirmation of features implementation.

  • Communicate project goals and feature documentation to external development partners.  Work with development partners for understanding and implementing product and features.  Track feature development and issue metrics as confirmation of schedule progress.

  • Define verification test plans to confirm features and product meet target specifications.  Execute verification tests and keep organization apprised on progress and status of verification.

  • Define validation test plans to confirm product acceptability for the consumer.  Work with the Product Manager to confirm features/product are meeting consumers expectations.  

  • Work with partners through the release plan for App, to assure test plans have been successfully completed prior to App release.

  • Work with Product Manager to educate customer care organization about new features within the App.

  • Work with customer care organization and external vendors to identify features which are not performing to spec or customer expectations.  Using external partners and own investigation techniques identify root cause, propose corrections, assure corrective actions are implemented, and confirm resolution of issue.

  • Maintain a feature roadmap and priority list.  Work to ready concept features so that they are available when slated project starts.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in product or feature development

  • 4 year Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering, or Software development preferred.  Engineering degrees in Mechanical or Engineering Technology may be considered with appropriate experience.

  • Experience in App development

  • Experience in Bluetooth development

  • Experience in working with overseas vendors

  • Software development experience preferred

  • Demonstrated capability with C, or other software language.

  • Team player, with good ability to work independently and take leadership roles. Demonstrated ability to work within high functioning cross-functional teams.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment where continuous innovation is a way of life.

  • Fluent in English.  Multilingual preferred.  Multilingual including Chinese a plus
