TUBING AND SKI HILL GROOMER AND SNOWMAKER (SEASONAL)
Department: Nutt Hill Outside Operations

Position Summary
The Tubing and Ski Hill Groomer & Snowmaker is responsible for creating and maintaining safe, high-quality snow conditions for the tubing hill throughout the winter season. This part-time hourly position operates snowmaking equipment and grooming machinery to prepare tubing lanes, maintain snow coverage, and ensure guests enjoy a safe and enjoyable experience. Work is primarily performed outdoors in cold weather and may include overnight, early morning, weekend, and holiday shifts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate snowmaking equipment, including air and water systems, snow guns, and hydrants.
- Monitor weather conditions and adjust snowmaking operations to maximize snow production and efficiency.
- Operate grooming equipment to shape, smooth, and maintain tubing lanes and hill surfaces.
- Inspect the tubing hill daily for hazards, uneven surfaces, ice buildup, and areas requiring repair.
- Build and maintain snow features, berms, run-out areas, and loading/unloading zones.
- Perform routine maintenance, fueling, cleaning, and inspections of grooming and snowmaking equipment.
- Troubleshoot and report equipment malfunctions or operational issues.
- Assist with setup and breakdown of snowmaking systems at the beginning and end of the season.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Follow all safety procedures, equipment operating guidelines, and policies.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and other operations staff regarding hill conditions and maintenance needs.
- Assist with other winter operations duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Current or ability to be certified First Aid/CPR/Ski Patrol.
- Must possess or acquire a valid Wisconsin driver’s license.
- Expected to have command of the English language, both written and verbal.
- Essential to have the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to various groups and individuals of a wide range of backgrounds.
- Exemplary guest service skills with a polished professional appearance and demeanor.
- Ability to engage with the public daily in recreational activities, delivering outstanding customer care.
- Requires the ability to exercise independent judgment, make sound decisions, and work without direct supervision.
- Ability to work cooperatively with others including guests, employees, contractors, private landowners, clubs, organizations, and the public.
- Should possess a working knowledge of computers.
- Must have access to all-weather transportation for getting to and from the work location.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to stand and/or sit for extended periods, reach, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, taste, and smell.
- Must be able to ascend and descend stairs and navigate uneven and slippery terrain.
- Must be able to walk on slick, wet, snow-covered, and uneven surfaces.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and carry for short distances.
- Must be able to manage working outside in all weather conditions, including extreme cold, snow, wind, and rain, on varied snow surfaces, and requires being on your feet for most of the scheduled shift.?
