Job Description & Requirements
POSITION PURPOSE
The Deputy Operations Manager plays a pivotal role in the successful and profitable running of Intrepid & Wildland Trekking Co. trips to the standards stipulated by Intrepid and Wildland Trekking’s policies and practices. The position provides the main point of contact for field staff working in the Sierra branch as well as the Operations teams. The Deputy Operations Manager is responsible for the overall performance of Siera trips, including maintaining and operating a branch warehouse location, and performing business administrative duties related to the branch. In addition, the DOM supports the contracting, reservations, sales and other functions for the branch. They may also be expected to perform other duties from time to time which may fall outside the scope of these responsibilities as business circumstances dictate.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
· Extensive knowledge of the field area;
o Yosemite, Sequoia Kings Canyon, John Muir Trail, Lassen, Lost Coast trail and more.
· Travel industry work experience, preferably as a tour leader or guide;
· Excellent communication (verbal & written) in English;
· Proficiency with Google Drive apps, Microsoft Office/Excel and previous experience with a CRM system; Salesforce preferred;
· Strong supervisory, facilitation and organization skills;
· Office duties required, ability to lift up-to 20 pounds and work at a computer station up to 40 hours-per-week;
· Meet company and DOT driving requirements and maintain a valid Driver’s License; Must be at least 21 years of age;
· Maintain a current Wilderness First Responder, CPR & Epi Certification;
· Must pass a background check;
· Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and be available for random drug screens
OTHER SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES
· A strong knowledge of Intrepid and Wildland Trekking’s style of travel, operating systems and trips;
· An understanding of regional culture and business etiquette;
· Management coaching / training experience required;
· The ability to work with a diverse group of leaders/guides with sensitivity, recognizing the demands of group leading;
· Ability to handle a multitude of tasks simultaneously;
· A willingness to work flexible hours;
· A capacity to make decisions independently;
· An understanding of and commitment to customer satisfaction;
· The ability to work in a team environment;

WORKING AND HOUSING CONDITIONS
- This job is based in Mariposa, CA and is Full Time, Seasonal from February through October. A willingness to maintain a flexible schedule and work weekends and/or holidays is necessary.
- Responsibilities and jurisdiction for this “branch”, “program area”, or “field area” are defined by our sales database as any operations associated with Program Area: California, all locations except Death Valley and Joshua Tree.
