Work Season: September – December

40 hours / week
Shifts will include weekdays, nights, and weekends between 6am and 11pm
Reports to: Operations Manager
Compensation: Hourly – Starting $17.00 DOE

Position Overview:
Denver Bcycle operates a public bike sharing program in the City and County of Denver. Bcycle Technicians are responsible for the repair and maintenance of bicycles included in a 700-bicycle fleet, the delivery and balancing of bicycles to bike stations located throughout the city, and installation and removal of bike stations. Denver Bcycle Technicians split their time based on the needs of the organization between bicycle repair, maintenance duties at the Denver Bcycle shop, station service, and the dispersal of bicycles to stations. Technicians must not only be excellent mechanics, but also be competent, courteous drivers who are comfortable operating in a high traffic urban environment. Mechanical Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:
Job knowledge and skills include, but are not limited to:
= Ability to understand the operation and maintenance of all components of a Bcycle bicycle
= Ability to troubleshoot and identify problems with Bcycle bicycles
= Ability to disassemble, clean, and repair/replace all components of a Bcycle bicycle in a timely and cost-effective manner
= Ability to use hand and power tools safely and creatively to solve mechanical problems
= Ability to maintain a safe and orderly work area
= Ability to assist the Shop & Service Manager with inventory control and the ordering of parts
= Ability to perform basic data entry
= Basic understanding and awareness of the Bike Sharing concept
Driving and Distribution Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:
Job knowledge and skills include, but are not limited to:
= Excellent customer service skills
= Skill to operate a vehicle towing a trailer in a safe and prudent manner
= Working knowledge of the geography and street layout of the City and County of Denver
= Ability to park the delivery vehicle in a manner as to minimize the chance of a motor vehicle, pedestrian, or bicycle accident while loading and unloading bicycles
= Ability to analyze system needs based on real-time web-based reporting, anticipate short-term needs of the system, and distribute the bikes accordingly
= Ability to make decisions that will ensure the smooth operation of the system with little or no supervision
= Ability to troubleshoot minor problems with docks and kiosks
= Ability to replace components of docks and kiosks
= Knowledge of the Bcycle system and ability to answer questions posed by customers
= Ability to maintain a clean delivery vehicle and perform basic maintenance on delivery vehicle and trailer
Computer and Electronic Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:
Job knowledge and skills include, but are not limited to:
= General understanding and capability of Windows based computer systems
= General understanding and capability of smart-phones and Google Hangouts
= Ability to follow electronic troubleshooting protocols safely and effectively
Physical Requirements:
Denver Bcycle Technicians:
= Must have a valid driver’s license
= Must have a driving record of less than 3 moving violations in a year and/or chargeable accidents.
= Must be able to repeatedly lift bikes weighing 50 lbs. from the floor to a height of no less than 34” using proper lifting technique
= Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
= Must be able to work outdoors in inclement weather
= Must be able to assist in the installation, removal, and relocation of 500 + pound Bcycle stations
