Job Description & Requirements
Burris Company is in search of local talent or required relocation to the area (with some relocation assistance), for a National Sales Manager of Commercial Accounts for the Steiner brand. Must have experience in the outdoor sports industry.
The National Sales Manager for Commercial Accounts (NSM), designs, develops and executes sales plans and marketing programs for the Commercial Markets. This position has the responsibility for pro-actively driving the sales between dealers, Rep Agencies, and marketing to reach revenue goals and to identify sales opportunities. The NSM will utilize and authorize training strategies and communicate initiatives designed to strengthen account relationships. The NSM will be an ambassador of the brand and use their talent and creativity to blend the sales-marketing programs and necessary support that will build the sales pipeline to increase the Steiner brand presence and grow the overall demand for Steiner products.
Key to the success in the role will be an in-depth understanding of the Steiner products and their applications, understand and be able to react to current market conditions, and deliver a value proposition alignment between the retailer, rep partner and Steiner.
SALES ACTIVITIES
- Ultimately be responsible to drive all sales and marketing activities in the commercial sector to meet or exceed annual sales targets as defined by the MBO (Management by Objectives) for the position
- Manage all commercial business on a national level with primary focus on key accounts (>$100k in annual sales) and core accounts (>$25k in annual sales), utilizing rep groups to assist in managing base accounts, those with <$25K annual sales.
- Be the direct owner of all key and core account relationships, driving periodic in-person meetings with focus on short-term sales review and long-term sales & promotion strategy planning
- Travel to key/core accounts as needed and perform product demonstrations as needed
MARKETING ACTIVITIES
- Will participate as part of creative team to formulate and develop necessary creative to achieve communication, brand, and sales goals.
- Responsible for the implementation of channel specific pull & push collateral, advertising, and merchandising materials.
- Manage Steiner Optics participation in relevant commercial-specific trade shows and events
- Responsible for creating and implementing value-added promotional programs with supporting sales action plans (ROIs)
- Responsible for implementing NPI (New Product Introductions) launch initiatives in the retail environment.
- Responsible for communication, reporting, and execution between VP, Sales and Marketing Team and customers to communicate and deliver Steiner brand needs in the marketplace.
STRATEGY & PLANNING ACTIVITIES
- Understand customer and channel requirements to adapt and communicate the value of Steiner products through creative sales and marketing solutions
- Liaise with rep groups and key dealers to constantly monitor market intelligence - competitive analysis, budget data, pricing etc.
- Participate with marketing and the VP of Sales for managing marketing relationships, communication, branding, and merchandising on a national basis for the channel
- Participate with VP and co-workers for annual planning, budgeting, and analysis
- Participate with VP and counterparts at Steiner Germany for periodic product planning and needs analysis
REP GROUP & DEALER MANAGEMENT
- Manage and motivate Reps on a constant basis to maintain momentum and drive incremental business
- Drive sales calls to key/core accounts including recommendations on products, technical support, order taking
- Manage and focus rep agent activities to support base accounts and develop new account relationships
- Conduct Rep and Key/Core Dealer Trainings on an ongoing basis and assist in the development of training materials.
- Liaise with end-users to both improve upon existing technology and drive new technology concepts to support sales growth.
Education & experience requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in business, sales, or marketing.
- Minimum 5 years’ sales management experience.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Strong grasp of sales concepts, with knowledge of commercial dealer direct programs and retail selling environments.
- Thorough understanding of conducting commercial demonstrations and working bids through commercial dealer sales.
- Understanding and experience with a broad range of marketing principles and tactics including sell-in and sell-through strategies.
- Strong project management skills: ability to manage multiple projects effectively with limited supervision.
- Premium Optics and shooting sports knowledge a plus
- Strong communication skills with ability to work cross-functionally and manage external agencies.
- Ability to travel as required, estimated 50+% of the time.
