GoodTurn Cycles is a nonprofit organization that provides job skills training to young adults that have not found success in traditional education or employment systems by providing job skills training and mentorship that unveils participants' self worth. Our paid job training program is held in our two retail electric bicycle shops. Our retail venture funds the job training program so that we are not as dependent on the charitable contributions of our supporters.
The Job Skills Instructor will assist in the operation of our job training program in our full service electric bike shop. This individual will be primarily responsible for providing 1 on 1 or 1 on 2 job skills training to interns in our job training program. Interns are individuals who “haven’t found success in traditional education or employment systems.” This can look a variety of ways but typically includes young adults who are neurodivergent or have histories of trauma. Aside from providing hands-on training, Job Skills Instructors will maintain relationships with partner organizations, recruit new interns, onboard and train new interns, and engage with graduated interns. The Job Skills Instructor is delegated job training duties from the Job Skills Program Coordinator. This role also includes basic functions of working in a retail bicycle environment when they are not engaged with interns.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead instructor for interns
Job training program curriculum update / creation
Interview potential interns for training program
Provide intern feedback to job organizations (SWAP, etc)
Bill partner organizations as appropriate
Maintain organized Intern documentation (applications, review, etc.)
Create schedule for interns & mentors
Create weekly/bi monthly internship update email
Work with / train interns
Develop and enrich Job training program

Provide customer service over the phone
Maintain cleanliness / order of shop floor
Maintain high sales ability
Check work email at beginning / end of shift
Provide team with week-end email summarizing open items

Assist in performing repairs on customer bikes
Assist in maintaining rental fleet
Assist in building new bikes for retail

Assist in developing, monitoring & maintaining quality control systems for rentals
Assist in generating blog posts for GTC website
Staff local events as applicable
Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree
Experience working with youth
Experience in bicycle mechanics a PLUS
Project management experience a PLUS

GoodTurn Cycles is a nonprofit social enterprise dedicated helping people achieve better health and providing job training to young people. Our shop specializes in sales, rentals and tours of electric bicycles (e-bikes), and repairs for all bikes.
GoodTurn Cycles is home to a job training program for young people with barriers to employment. Our paid internship program takes our interns through a bicycle mechanics, customer service and mentorship curriculum in which we develop transferrable basic employability skills. Although we have dedicated staff to perform the training, all employees have the opportunity to have a positive impact on our interns through mentor engagement and supplementary training.
