Job Description & Requirements

Vista Outdoor is seeking a Social Media Manager to curate, execute, and analyze the public-facing image of the Hunting/Shooting Accessories Business Unit through social media platforms including Instagram and Facebook and extending to curation/optimization of our YouTube channels.

The ideal candidate will have prior experience within the firearms, tactical industry, and/or hunting industry and be able to speak with authority on firearms, military/law enforcement tactical gear, and related topics. The chosen candidate must display the ability to multitask, craft grammatically correct copy, and maintain multiple different brand voices across various channels.

This position reports directly to the Marketing Manager and will work hand-in-hand with our in-house Marketing team as well as outside agencies.

Easy going yet hard working. Must be able to juggle multiple time-sensitive projects and keep a cool, logical mindset. Must have a thick skin and sharp sense of humor to handle the realm of social media interactions. Be able to problem solve and work on creative solutions across a variety of internal departments. Be bold enough to brainstorm unique and interesting social content while being comfortable with putting your nose to the grindstone and knocking out daily tasks. Ability to effectively work inter/intra-departmentally


  • Create and Maintain 30+ Day Social Media Schedule

  • Interact with Social Media Users in Timely and Professional Manner

  • Exude Personality and Understanding of Current Events through Interactions

  • Work with Marketing Team to Develop Public Brand Persona and Tone

  • Field Product-Specific Inquiries

  • Craft Eloquent, Error-Free, and Accurate Copy for Social Media Posts

  • Work with Product and Customer Service Teams to Ensure 100% Accuracy of ALL Posts and Responses

  • Work with Photo/Video Team to Ensure Deep Content Stable to Serve Social Media’s Needs

  • Work with Ecommerce Team to Drive Web Traffic and Support Initiatives

  • Compile Reports to Understand Content Success and Inform Best Practices

  • Identify Relevant Influencers in Core, Adjacent, and Reach Markets

  • Devise Creative Collaborations with Influencers, Brands, and Media on Social Platforms

  • Curate and Manage YouTube Accounts

  • Coordinate/Execute Facebook + Instagram + YouTube Promoted Posts, Advertisements, etc.

  • Design digital media campaigns aligned with business goals

  • Coordinate the creation of digital content across Brands

  • Coordinate with creative team to design digital content 

  • Content Creation, when needed

  • Establish our web presence to boost brand awareness

  • Maintain a strong online company voice through social media

  • Liaise with Marketing, Sales and Product development teams to ensure brand consistency

  • Suggest and implement direct marketing methods to increase profitability

  • Monitor ROI and KPIs

  • Stay up-to-date with digital media development


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Related Field or Equivalent Work Experience. Greater Emphasis Placed on Experience vs. Education.

  • 5+ Years of Experience in Firearms /Outdoor Industry – Preference Toward Marketing and/or Product Experience

  • Knowledge of Facebook Ads Manager

  • Experienced with Spredfast, Sprinklr, Hootsuite, or Other Social Management Platform

  • MUST Be Proficient in Written English – Punctuation + Grammar
