Job Description & Requirements

Who we are

The Adventure Park at Sandy Spring is an Accredited Operation by The Association for Challenge Course Technology (ACCT). Individual challenge and achievement is at the core of The Adventure Park guest experience. The Park is an outdoor unguided climbing and zipping adventure which challenges each guest to combine strength, strategy and balance to navigate through their choice of 14 trails and more than 240 climbing elements utilizing the safest available equipment.

Who you are

You are a friendly, positive professional with a passion for the outdoors, and a love of adventure. You are also familiar with work at height, worker safety, and fall protection, as well as having experience working with guests in a service environment. You’re friendly, patient, kind, and a ready problem-solver.

What you’ll do

You will act as the Manager on Duty (MOD) on a day-to-day basis, including opening and closing the park, coordinating scheduled staff, and adapting to daily fluctuations in ticket sales. You will serve as the initial responder to emergency situations, maintain a clean and safe work environment, and work with other scheduled Park Supervisors to make the day run smoothly. You will enforce all park rules, operating procedures, and guest policies. You will report directly to the Director of Operations, including reporting all incidents, concerns, and suggestions.

You will routinely observe scheduled staff and workstations to ensure work quality and guest service remain at the highest level. You will provide coaching and, if necessary, disciplinary action to scheduled staff. You will also coordinate staff members to accommodate unexpected changes to the schedule, guest needs, and changing weather conditions.

What you’re like

You are a quick and independent learner who is confident performing tasks under pressure and handling challenging situations professionally. You never compromise on safety, and you are able to consider and coordinate several aspects of park operations simultaneously. Your excellent communication and guest service skills help you promote a positive work environment for your team and for our guests.

A background or prior experience with any of the following is a nice bonus: adventure/challenge, outdoor education, supervisory experience, travel/tourism, fire/rescue/EMT, and arboriculture.
