The home for Great Outdoor Clothing, Sportago, celebrating 40 years in downtown St. Helena is seeking a store manager to run our day-to-day store operations. A little bit about the job:
We are seeking a store manager who can lead daily operations in the store. You will manage and reinforce a sales culture that perpetuates the love of the outdoors and the activities that we all enjoy doing. You will instill those values in the rest of our sales team and help with larger retail planning and events with our principal owners. Your goal is not only to help run a successful business, but to also run a shop that is awesome for our community, our customers and our staff.
Day to Day:
1) Create a positive employee experience focused on engagement, retention and instructional training. You are the people person!
2) Actively work the sales floor, interacting with customers and staff. You are the product expert and customers and staff come to you with their questions and needs.
3) Help in the ordering, receiving and managing of the store merchandise and vendors.
4) Create retail and merchandising plans that include seasonal offerings and support local activities and events.
5) Engage with customers and help create a community around the store and its product including identifying new business opportunities within our area.
6) Manage daily tasks, including simple bookkeeping, reporting, sales goals and operations.
Qualifications:
1) 3-5 years retail store management experience preferred.
2) Great at communicating and building relationships, both inside and outside the store.
3) An innovative thinker that can resolve problems in a beneficial and constructive way.
4) Ability to thrive in times of change and shifting priorities and have a strong ability to stay flexible to the unforeseen.
5) A passion for the outdoors and a mind for the protection of our natural environment and access to it for all.
