Position Overview:

Simms is seeking a goal driven and results oriented Independent Sales Representative team to manage and grow our specialty retail accounts across assigned territory. This is a field-based, independent sales role focused on building relationships, driving sell-through, and expanding Simms’ presence within the territory. High retailer touch with a segmentation mindset on store visits is highly desired. The ideal team would have existing connections with retailers in the territory and come equipped with a deep understanding of the fishing industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a strategic sales plan to achieve monthly revenue and growth targets within the assigned territory.
  • Build and maintain strong retailer relationships to maximize Simms' market share and brand presence.
  • Travel extensively within Montana and Idaho, meeting with specialty retailers and providing exceptional value by being present in key retail doors monthly.
  • Present and sell Simms’ products, programs, and promotions, ensuring effective merchandising and in-store execution.
  • Conduct regular store visits, product clinics, and training sessions to educate dealers and their staff on Simms' technologies and brand initiatives.
  • Analyze sales data and market trends to identify opportunities and drive performance.
  • Work closely with internal teams (sales, marketing, and customer service) to ensure seamless account management.
  • Represent Simms at trade shows, dealer meetings, and consumer events to strengthen retailer engagement and brand advocacy.
  • Provide accurate and timely reporting on sales performance, forecasts, and competitive insights.

 

 

Qualifications & Skills:

  • 3+ years of outside sales experience, preferably in the outdoor, fishing, or sporting goods industry.
  • Strong knowledge of fishing and outdoor industry trends, retailers, and competitive landscape.
  • Proven ability to work independently while maintaining a high level of accountability and organization.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively within the assigned territory, including overnight travel.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or related field preferred.
  • Passion for fishing and the outdoor lifestyle is a strong plus.
